Marcos Kremer joined ASM Clermont in 2023 after three seasons at Stade Français. The Argentine international back-rower quickly became an important part of the squad led by Christophe Urios, who had followed his profile since his time at Union Bordeaux-Bègles and particularly valued his competitive qualities. Initially signed for two seasons with an additional option year, Marcos progressively entered a decisive phase of his contract. From the start of the 2024/25 season, Activrep, mandated by ASM Clermont Auvergne, began discussions with the club's management to work on his extension and his place in Clermont's sporting project.
Both parties wanted to keep building together, but their expectations had to be aligned. ASM saw Marcos as an important part of its sporting rebuild. The player, meanwhile, had interest from several markets, notably in the Top 14 and in England. To stay at Clermont, he also wanted to understand the club's sporting trajectory and its ambition for the coming seasons. The challenge was therefore bringing together the player's value, his place in the project and ASM's sporting ambition.
Activrep held discussions with ASM's management, notably Benoît Vaz and Aurélien Rougerie, to understand the club's constraints, its objectives and the role envisaged for Marcos in the following seasons. In parallel, the player's expectations were worked through around his sporting project, his ambitions and the various possibilities on the market. The negotiation process then aimed to bring these positions together until a shared agreement was built between the player and the club.
After several months of discussions, Marcos Kremer and ASM Clermont reached an agreement. Officially announced in December 2024, the extension keeps him at the club through June 2028. Marcos thus continues his journey at Clermont, remaining one of the players the club is building its sporting project around.
Extending a key player is not just about negotiating the length of a contract. The agreement must also reflect the player's role and the sporting ambition both parties want to commit to.
