At 18, Yanis Brosset was already identified as one of Clermont's high-potential academy players. Part of ASM's academy since age 16, he has been followed by Christophe Urios since 2025 and progressively involved with the first-team project. The club wanted to build with him for the long term. For Yanis and his family, the challenge was understanding how this sporting trust could translate into the next steps of his career.
The shared goal was clear: continue the journey with ASM. The work was therefore less about the destination than about building the path to get there. At this age, a player's situation can change quickly: academy football, integration into the professional group, playing time and sporting progression are all possible stages. The challenge was building a framework consistent with this progression, striking the right balance between the club's wish to develop one of its young players and protecting Yanis's interests.
Activrep began by discussing with ASM to precisely understand the club's sporting projection for Yanis and the different stages envisaged in his development. This projection was then checked against the proposed contract structure to verify its consistency with the different scenarios for the player's progression. The discussions helped align the planned progression and pay-rise mechanisms more precisely with the stages likely to mark his development. In parallel, Activrep supported Yanis and his family in understanding the proposal and its implications. At 18, these decisions arrive quickly in a career and require making sporting and contractual issues understandable to a family rarely prepared for them. Two rounds of discussions ultimately aligned the club, the player and his family around a shared trajectory.
The agreement was reached with a structure able to support the different progression stages envisaged between Yanis and ASM. His sporting trajectory quickly began to materialise: Yanis actively joined the professional group, took part in pre-season with the first team, and started the season's first Top 14 match. Club, player and family thus share a common understanding of the project and the path planned to continue his development at Clermont.
For a young player, negotiating is not just about setting today's terms. It means building a framework able to support tomorrow's progression.
